about
Americana/Prog song with overlaid odd time signatures. It's our goal to infuse the technical progressive rock styles with singer/songwriter sensibilities, while making it accessible. "Forgotten Lights" is about helplessly watching a loved one slip away into dementia. The song starts as a mellow Americana groove, and the split at the outro introduces the prog elements to bring in the lyric "the flame blew out again." This was the pivotal point in the lyrics, signifying the change from someone who was slowly losing their faculties who has now seemingly become a different person. The switch from the easy, mellow groove to the frenetic time signature embodies this.
lyrics
I've got a war
To keep all the reasons on
I can't take it back
For reason or right
You can rise up with your anger
You can come down in your own time
Recover memories like old forgotten lights
There are flashes that glow
In the halls of the years you've seen undone
There are patterns that show
every time you arrived
When you'd rise up with your anger
Or when you'd come down in your own time
Recover memories like old forgotten lights
Recover memories like old forgotten lights
The flame blew out again
I can feel you racing every moment trying to keep in step
The time ahead again
and the fear displace another memory slow the speed of sound
